◆Your name?
FenrisFenrir89, or Fenny for short. My stuff is signed, if signed, -*Cat or -<3Cat, and my sister calls me Darahan after a lazy video game character.
◆If possible, your age?
20...though not even i believe it.
◆When did you start drawing? What did you draw?
since i could pick up a pencil i guess...though back then it was a big black crayon...lol.
◆Which hand do you use for drawing?
Right...i've used my left before...it wasn't too pretty.
◆Which is easier to draw - male or female?
um..when i'm drawing anime/cartoon, i have an easier time with females...when i'm doing realistic nudes for my art class, males seem easier...or at least turn out better...go figure.
◆Which is easier to draw - long hair or short hair?
i wouldn't say either length is easier. difficulty comes with the hair style. personally, i find straight or wavy hair to be easier than curly or spiky.
◆Is it easier to draw the head facing towards the right or the left?
i draw them facing left more often, but that's just because i'm right-handed. its not so hard to draw them the other way, i just have to be consciously wanting them in that direction. (does that make sense?)
◆Is it easier to draw the side view of the face or the front view?
honestly? i tend to favor the 3/4 angle of the face. then probably profiles. then forward. then other odd angles. then back. the back of the head is so boring. but once again, its not a matter of difficulty, just of preference...front views are very static. *shrugs* i like at least a hint of action.
◆What do you have problems in drawing?
finishing a picture is my most irritating problem. i lose interest easily, or i start drawing something and it inspires me to do something else. but i have huge issues with foreshortening too...which sucks, because i love dynamic pictures and its hard to get them without foreshortened perspectives.
◆What do you like to draw?
people and animals and mythical creatures. but in an illustration, anime, or comicish style. i absolutely loathe still lifes and landscapes. (i love to look at them, just hate to draw them). also not a fan of drawing realism...i can do it when they (my professors) make me, but i'd rather not.
◆Are you a traditional artist or a digital artist?
i suppose both. i prefer traditional...i like to feel in control. i like to feel the pictures flowing from my hand to the pencil to the paper. but the effeciency of technology (especially with coloring) has its benefits and the tablet/photoshop route is growing on me.
◆Where do you start drawing from?
The eyes--when i have it my way. in my drawing classes they want you to start in the middle and work outwards so not to distort proportions. but when left on my own, the eyes are always first.
◆What is your drawing habit that you are aware of?
i have tendancy to skip the sketching stage. i go straight for the dark lines. i am not a timid drawer by any means. but being so sure of your lines and colors has its drawbacks too. its not so easy to fix or cover up mistakes. i also run off the paper alot because of not mapping things out.
◆What do you keep in mind when you do lineart?
compostion and proportions mostly. knowing what i want and around where i want it, and trying to make it all fit together believably. and then hope it doesn't look wierd or awkward. lol. since my classes though, i've been paying a bit more attention to negative space.
◆Any tips for coloring/shading?
hmm...build up from one direction. either work light to dark, or dark to light. (for me that depends on the media). that goes for both i suppose. with shading...although its not necessary to have a definate light source, it helps. and if shading on color, go shades darker or add compliments don't add black unless its a severe dark shadow. and try to blend the shadows and highlights so there aren't any sharp edges. unless you're going for a more blocky look.
◆How long does it take to finish a piece of art?
wow...that ranges. my balthierxashe halloween picture took two hours (drawing, scanning and coloring) and my Fire Emblem meme took two weeks--20min to an hour a night. and that's just fan art which rarely takes as long as my original stuff--i'm more picky about my own characters looking just how i want them.
◆What music do you listen to while you draw?
all sorts. but David Bowie is probably the one i listen to the most. but only cause i have six bowie cds and only like one of all the other artists/bands i listen to.
◆How long does it take you to come up with an idea?
*shrugs* its an idea. don't they just spring themselves upon you? but just because i get an idea doesn't mean i dont spend time thinking it over and tweaking it before i put in on paper.
◆Your favorite drawing utensils?
Num. 2 Pencil and 001 Micron pen. though i do love my tablet stylus.
◆Your favorite color/the color that you use a lot?
graphite and black ink used the most.
◆Your favorite style(s)?
anime and surreal
◆Are you satisfied with your current art?
sometimes. but i know i can get better.
◆What kind of artist are you aiming for?
i want to be either a sequential artist or an illustrator.
◆Artists tagged must fill in this baton.
um...i don't care. do it if you want to.
